Team Minutes Present Walt Whitmer, Chair, Pennsylvania State University
Welcome Walt Whitmer, Chair of NACDEP Transition Team, welcomed the group and reviewed the Agenda (Appendix A). Confirm Membership of Transition Team It was noted that 1890 administrators had appointed Charles Shepphard, Alcorn State University, to the Transition Team. A discussion of the best way to determine 1994 representation to the Transition Team concluded with Julie Stewart indicated that she would contact Neal Flora to determine strategy. It was also suggested that Sally Maggard and Maurice Dorsey both be added to the listserv and the Transition Team. Conference Planning Team Ernie Hughes, Southern University, and Bill Wooddrom, West Virginia State College, were appointed by 1890 administrators to serve on the conference planning team. Again, a strategy for recruiting 1994 representation was discussed with Julie Stewart following up with possible names. (Since the conference call, we have received names for members of the Northeast Region: Bill Shuffstall, Pennsylvania State University, and Mary Peabody, University of Vermont). Update of Where We Are A listserv of the Transition Team has been set up. Any team members can communicate to all by using the following address: nacdep-transition@lists.msstate.edu Potential membership for NACDEP includes participants from the Orlando Conference, the Galaxy meeting, and the RRDC’s individual list. Greg Taylor reported that in the Southern region, each state is developing a list of potential members. Julie Stewart agreed to maintain the national database of potential members. A committee of the following people will be engaged in developing a master database: Julie Stewart, Bonnie Teater, Greg Taylor, Steve Daniels, Stephan Goetz, Pam Hearn, Charles Shepphard and Kathy Tweeten. It was decided that the complete list should be forward to Julie Stewart no later than December 15. Rod will check with CSREES to determine if there is a national listserv for recruiting membership. Draft Marketing Piece Walt discussed the draft announcement and information piece that he drafted. It was determined that a very short information item with a link to the various items of interest should be developed and sent out early in December. Walt will re-draft for distribution. Website Development A basic draft of a NACDEP website was discussed. It was decided that there should be an effort to get a site available for early marketing. A discussion of a NACDEP logo led to a decision to ask each of the RRDC’s to provide ideas that would be then be reviewed for approval. Each RRDC was asked to get ideas to Bonnie no later than December 5. A website committee was formed with the following individuals named to the committee: Bonnie Teater, Rod Howe and Walt Whitmer. Task Force Needs The group decided that it is not practical to have permanent elections until after potential membership was determined and various committees had spent time making recommendations regarding fee structure, etc. Therefore, temporary elections were held and the following individuals were elected:
