In an effort to assist small under-developed communities, the Alabama Communities of Excellence (ACE) Program has developed a unique model to prepare communities for a more sustainable and vibrant future. The ACE Program is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization managed by a board of directors, which consist of public, private, and educational organizations in Alabama. The ACE Program was created for the purpose of utilizing the collective expertise of its partner organizations (more than 20 organizations) to assist Alabama's smaller communities. Collectively, these organizations represent a powerful partnership that has the expertise to address many community development needs in small, rural communities. ACE is a three-phase program that focuses on assisting Alabama communities with populations between 2,000 and 12,000 in the areas of leadership development, strategic and comprehensive planning, commercial business development, education enhancement, infrastructure requirements, health and human services, tourism, economic development and other quality of life issues.
